Relationship between skin structure and wool traits for Ultrafine and Dohne Merino sheep of Uruguay

چکیده

The demand in the world market for high quality fine and superfine wool is increasing, responding to greater textile industry demands price incentives. There are few research studies focused on hair follicle population Merino sheep Uruguay. This study evaluates association between most relevant economical traits. work was carried out Ultrafine Australian (UAM) Dohne (DM) animals (lambs rams). Phenotypic correlations secondary/primary follicles (S/P) other traits (fiber diameter, staple length, clean fleece weight, scoured yield, coefficient of variation fiber diameter comfort factor parameter, were performed using histological skin cuts. Two samples extracted from each lamb at two nine months age. These processed histology laboratory obtain a preparation further biopsy, being able differentiate structures obtained be evaluated. results showed UAM group, S/P ratio nine-month-old lambs than two-month-old (31.08 vs 23.12 P< 0.05). For DM there no differences age groups. characteristics low medium or null magnitude both genotypes.

Genetic Parameters for Body Weight, Carcass and Wool Traits in Dohne Merino

The Dohne Merino was introduced to Australia as a dual-purpose (wool and meat) breed at the end of 1990s with very limited genetic parameters available. Up to 373,639 records per trait were used to estimate genetic parameters for eight traits in this study. Heritability estimates ( ± s.e.) were 0.34 ± 0.02 for weaning weight (Wwt), 0.27 ± 0.01 for yearling weight (Ywt), 0.13 ± 0.01 for yearling...

Genetic Parameters in Merino Sheep GENETIC RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CARCASS QUALITY AND WOOL PRODUCTION TRAITS IN AUSTRALIAN MERINO RAMS

The heritability of carcass quality traits and the genetic correlations between wool production and these carcass quality traits were estimated on 1216 Merino rams. The results showed that carcass quality traits are moderately heritable but pH appears to be lowly heritable. Yellowness and redness of L. dorsi had very low heritability estimate. Moderate negative genetic relationships were found ...

Incorporating Subjectively Assessed Sheep and Wool Traits into Genetic Evaluations for Merino Sheep 2: Phenotypic and Genetic Correlations

Using pedigree and performance records obtained from two Merino breeders the phenotypic and genetic relationship between subjectively assessed sheep and wool traits and objectively measured wool traits were estimated. The subjective traits were all favourably genetically correlated with fibre diameter. The genetic relationship with body weight, greasy fleece weight and fibre diameter variation ...

Polymorphisms of FST gene and their association with wool quality traits in Chinese Merino sheep

Follistatin (FST) is involved in hair follicle morphogenesis. However, its effects on hair traits are not clear. This study was designed to investigate the effects of FST gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) on wool quality traits in Chinese Merino sheep (Junken Type). We performed gene expression analysis, SNP detection, and association analysis of FST gene with sheep wool quality traits...
